Today I want to share how I solved Case number 213 over at Color Stories Inspiration. It has to be said that this challenge single-handedly pulled me right out of my scrapping funk and reawakened my mojo! I love this challenge; and I’m pretty pleased with the end result!
Here it is:
And this is how I solved this bright and sunny case!
Scheme : all there
Evidence : dots, grid/mesh pattern, numbers, flowers/leaves
Testimony : something about school
It’s always so much fun when you have a birthday at school! This year you didn’t take you crown off; you were wearing it when I collected you much later that day. We baked a huge cake for you – and we were hard pressed at what theme it would be! We had to make it appealing to both boys and girls; so we settled on using an Olaf overlay and loads of blue icing. The kiddies all sang to you in THREE languages – English, Afrikaans and Xhosa. I wish that I could have been a fly on the wall that day because I have no doubt you absolutely relished in the attention.
Here are some close ups. I took loads so that you could see how very layered this piece is (got to love a lot of layering!!).
Please head on over and play along with us – it’s such a gorgeous palette!
And finally, a card I made using Feeling Sketchy’s latest sketch.
Let’s Scrap have another lovely sketch challenge for you to come along and play with!
And here is what I did with this gorgeous sketch this fortnight:
Hello my fellow artistic friends!
Today I want to share three posts; the first is the lastest challenge over at CSI – Case File number 212. The instant I saw this colour scheme, I thought of ballet, fairies and all things girly.
I was also pretty pleased that it matched perfectly with the photograph I had planned, which I took of Isabella at her 6th birthday party.
Here is how I solved this case:
Scheme : all there
Evidence : Solid background, shiny gold elements, frames
Testimony : IW – plan
Each year, I start planning for your birthday parties LONG in advance. In fact, within 2 – 3 months of your birthday having finished, the planning for the next one begins in earnest. This year was no exception and although it was not on as much of a grand scale as it has been in the past, it was an incredibly special day. The theme was Disney Fairies and you insisted on having both your cake and your outfit modelled on fairy Silvermist; she’s been your favourite all along.
I managed to source an outfit for you months prior and it was shipped across to us from across the ocean; all the way from America.
I have been wanting to bake a ‘doll cake’ for the longest time and was very pleased to finally have the opportunity. Again, I searched long and hard for the perfect Silvermist doll (we have three to prove that!) and we finally settled on the most glittery one to use for your cake. What an absolute joy it was for me to bake this cake for you; but most especially to see and hear your response at how it turned out.
I hope that you had an incredible day, my little fairy princess!
Here are some close up shots of my work.
Fabscraps C88 range is called Floral Dreams and oh my – is it Dreamy. And ethereal. And girly. And all kinds of wonderful!
Amongst the pieces I created is a trio of small shadow boxes I adhered together. You can find the tutorial for it here.
And here are some images of this piece. I have been thinking about mounting it on to a larger canvas – just so that it’s easier to display… AND because the paper is just so divine
and I want to showcase more of it..
I always end up making really feminine / girly cards and have very rarely made a more masculine feel card.
For the latest sketch over at Feeling Sketchy, I decided to make (for the first time!) a young boy themed birthday card.
Here is the sketch:
And here is the card I made. As you can see, I rotated it once, counter-clockwise.
I’m utterly thrilled and very blessed to have the opportunity to serve amongst a very talented group of ladies over at Let’s Scrap for another term!!
Michelle has designed yet another gorgeous sketch for you guys to work with and take part in our challenge this fortnight over at Let’s Scrap. It’s so great to be able to showcase so many pictures on one LO (yes, yes, I know I always say that!).
Here is what I did with the sketch.
I knew that Glenda’s range would match perfectly with the colouring in Isabella’s dress in these photographs and was so excited about how it all came together. I did quite a lot of fussy cutting and stitching too.
Here are some additional close ups of my LO.
Hit the ground running again, I have! So much for August being a slower and quieter month… I’ve not even caught up properly and already we’re in September!
I want to share my take on Case File 211 over at Color Stories Inspiration. I loved how very vibrant this palette; and it ha two shades of my favourite teal in too!
As you can see, there is a gorgeous sketch, designed by Em Stafrace.
Here is how I solved the case:
Scheme : all there
Evidence : solid background, wood, chipboard
Testimony : IW Fun
We needed to do a little shop at our local mall and while there, we popped into one of mommy’s favourite retail stores. They always have a gorgeous selection of hats for all seasons, so you and I decided to have a little selfie fun while trying on a selection of hats. You sometimes shy away from selfies, but on this day, you were pretty insistent on trying on as many hats for a wee photo shoot as possible. People around us where chuckling too, because you had many little sound effects and sayings and posing and prances which accompanied each photograph.
Here are some close up images of my work.
