The second piece that I’m sharing with you today is one I did for Scrappingclearly’s Mood Board:
Lovely!! So cheerful. And this is what I put together yesterday. This is one of my most favourite people in the whole world; one who means a GREAT deal to me! It was taken at my 40th birthday party.
Yesterday I counted how many LO’s and other projects I did just this week – and it’s more than I’ve done in TWO weeks in the past. My brain is more than a little fried – but I’m SO HAPPY!!
Today I’m excited to share two LO’s for you – these are for two online challenges I’m taking part in.
First up, we have the latest mood board from Berry71Bleu:
Totally LOVE this scheme and theme! So many scrappers balk when they see purple – not me (however, orange usually presents a challenge to me!). That being said, this is what I whipped up yesterday. It is an image of my cousin (bottom right) and my two sisters-in-law, taken at my 40th birthday lunch with family.
I’m sharing today, another piece I did for the Scrap Affairs magazine competition for which the theme is Family / Friends.
This time, I’ve scrapped a photograph of my friend Michelle and I. We came together in scrapping! We met at the annual scrapbook convention, chatted and hooked up via FB. She stays close by and her kids attend the high school which is mere metres from my home – so on some days in the week, she comes to visit while her kids attend their various extra mural activities. I haven’t seen her in a while though, and I’m missing her a whole BUNCH. We share so many of the same views and she has been an absolute pillar of strength for me after my husband died. She’s picked me up by my bootstraps too many times to mention. I love her very, very much!
And here are some close ups!
The competition in the latest Scrap Affairs magazine calls for all layouts showing friends or family. I think I’m going to do submit a few entries into this one…
I did this layout of my friend Sharon and I. Sharon is one of the most amazing and inspiring women I have ever met – and who I have the absolute privilege of calling a friend. My life has been so very rich having her in it.
I used Graphic 45’s Steampunk Debutante for this – because I felt that the theme of the paper so matched her!
Here we go:
I’m not in the best of headspaces; and when that happens, I head on over to my scrapping room. Yesterday I finished off a Fabscraps OTP, as well as two layouts – one for the Words & Paintery January challenge and the other for the current Scrap Affairs competition (I’ll do that in a separate post).
Here is the challenge for Words & Paintery:
And this is what I made using these colours as inspiration:

Another one for today!
I’m doing another combo challenge – namely for Penelope Dee & Ranger; and More Than Words.
Here is the info for Penelope Dee and Ranger:
I love their paper, guys! It’s so lovely and thick and will take quite a substantial amount of wetting, etc. And it distresses like a DREAM!!
The challenge over at More Than Words is:
With this challenge, I decided to scrap a picture of Isabella and I, taken at the 2016 New Years’ eve party that we hosted. Being that 2016 was not the greatest year for us, we decided that we needed to celebrate its demise and look forward to a MUCH better 2017! I used a fair amount of bling on my page, and I selected purple and teal from the image above.
Here is what I did:
And SEVERAL close ups!!
So, with all the new changes I’ve had in mind for 2017 in terms of my scrapping – one of them is to take part in more challenges! It has been easily 2 years plus since I have done so – and I have missed the thrill of it!
I have headed back to one of my old haunts – namely Scrap Africa and I’ve used their current sketch challenge:
With all that layering – how could I resist!?
I’ve paired this challenge with the one over at White..with 1 – here is their mood board this month:
And this is the layout I created using these two elements:
I’m already SO excited at the prospect of taking part in MANY challenges this year!!
Color Stories Inspiration released their latest challenge earlier today! They are also celebrating their FIFTH birthday this month! I took part in many of their challenges before finally making it onto their DT – this was HUGE for me.
Anyway, here is their latest challenge:
And this is what I put together to solve this really beautiful and sophisticated case!
Scheme : all there
Evidence : floral pattern, stars, glitter
Testimony : IW friends & lovely
This photograph was taken shortly after your graduation ceremony. Although it shows just you and teacher Bronwyn, it speaks on many other levels too.
It speaks of the friends you have made. It speaks of B’s amazing, gently, lovely, caring nature and deep love for her ‘kids’. It speaks of how you’ve grown in the year that you have been in Grade R. It speaks of your own love for your teacher and your school. It speaks of how much you have learned. It speaks of the friends that mommy herself has made. It speaks of how far we have come with your physical and emotional development from January to December 2016.
This one image has managed to completely encompass the greatness of 2016 in its entirety. I’m so proud of you, Isabella. I’m so proud of where you are now and the most amazing progress you have made!
Here are some close ups of this piece:
Hi there my artist friends!
I’ve done a lot of reflecting over the past month while having a bit of a ‘rest’ from scrapping. I’ve thought about how much stress I was under this year with several deadlines; and so I have decided to step down from two of my Design Teams – namely Let’s Scrap and Feeling Sketchy.
It has been pretty much exactly two years since I made something that was ‘just mine’. Don’t get me wrong – I’ve THOROUGHLY enjoyed being on DT’s as well! It is, after all, a dream come true for me.
I have so many ideas in the pipeline (and have done for years) for goodies that I still want to make for myself. I’m also in the middle of compiling my friends wedding album; it’s been rough that I haven’t been able to dedicate more time on that for her (her wedding was in April 2016!!). I feel terrible about it.
Also, Isabella is now in Grade 1 and being that we are heading into week 2 tomorrow, I have yet to find my feet in terms of the new schedule. I also have my name down to help out at school.
So for now, I’m staying on DT’s where I can absolutely manage the work that is required to be on them.
I want 2017 to bring with it more ART for me. Be it through DT channels or my own. I want to try my best to create at least three projects / layouts a week.
Let’s see if I can stick to that!
I’m back from my holiday break and feeling rather well rested. I am dying to head into my craft room, but with my 6-year-old still on holiday, it’s proving to be near on impossible!
CSI’s latest challenge is open for investigation, along with another beautiful sketch by our Em. Take a look:
And here is how I solved this stunning case:
Scheme : all there
Evidence : grid, circles
Testimony : document a birthday
Turning 40 has always sounded very daunting to me; it’s safe to say that it was not something I was particularly looking forward to. However, as I neared said age, so many of my friends had told me that ‘something happens when you turn 40’ … so I was kinda looking forward to that. Being that I am always worried about what people think of me (being a people pleaser is not for the faint hearted), I just wanted to wake up one day and really just not obsess about being liked.
Well, I can say that it HAS happened – to a point. I do still worry, but not half as much as I used to.
To celebrate turning 40, I threw a big party at one of my favourite golf clubs, and invited all my friends. It was a great evening and everyone took the time to dress up according to the theme. I will never forget celebrating with my friends.
And as for being 40? It’s not that bad after all!
