Scrap The Girls, Single Page LO

Butterfly Kisses

Hi there,

Today I want to share the layout I created for the BE-YOOO-TIFUL mood board challenge that Scrap The Girls have for August – I seriously love these colours!

My eye kept going to the beautifully made up girl in the top left hand corner – I love her makeup and the flowers in her hair, so I decided to incorporate flowers in my layout.  I also used a wood grain background; inspiration for that, taken from the door in the top left hand corner.  And I used all the colours from the four above too.

Here is what I did – along with some close ups.

Amazing Day | The Studio

Hey there craftaholics!

Today I’m sharing with you, my take on the gorgeous sketch at The Studio!

Awesome, right? I don’t often use two photographs on a LO, so was only too happy to make a change, for once! These photo’s were taken on my daughter’s school’s Egyptian Day, which they have every year for just the Grade 2’s. When we heard about it while she was in Grade R, we were very excited, so when the day FINALLY arrived, you can only imagine how much excitement there was in our home!

More Than Words, Single Page LO

Cherish Yesterday

Hi friends!

Today I want to share my layout for the August Challenge at More Than Words:

Here my layout for this one.

I used the word yesterday in my title.  The photograph was taken on my (maternal) grandparents’ wedding day; it’s sepia and has been coloured in (which, I think, was all the rage back then).  I think that this photograph will be 71 years old on the 1st of January 2019. A long, long time ago.  So many memories!  Imagine – if this event did not take place, I would not exist!

I used some antique keys, an antique camera printed on a tag and some antique looking scroll work chippies.  I just loved working on this and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

Challenge YOUrself, Single Page LO

So Thankful For You

Today I want to share a layout I created for the August challenge at Challenge Yourself.  It was an easy one for me – I have SO many selfies of Isabella and I – the hard part was choosing a favourite (which I had not scrapped before!)

I decided to go with a soft, feminine and totally girly layout; and I also wanted to incorporate more chippies!  I have SUCH a huge stash of chippies and I just don’t end up using them!  So here is the layout I created, along with a few close ups:

Challenge YOUrself, Single Page LO

Salty Kisses, Sandy Toes

Hello my dear crafty friends,

I’ve not had an opportunity to enter layouts in the usual challenges for the month of July because life’s been 50 shades of busy… HOWEVER, I’m pretty pleased that the deadline to enter into Challenge YOUrself is tomorrow!

Here is their challenge:

And this is what I put together.  This picture of Isabella and I was taken about 5 years ago – maybe more – and is from a series that my mom took of us as a family, walking along the beach in Langebaan.  Each one is very, very special to me.

CSI DT Post, Single Page LO

Today Was Great | CSI DT

Hey there scrappy scrappers! 🙂

Today over at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration we have a travel themed case we need you to help us solve!  Case File 259 is yet another stunner, with a lovely fresh colour palette.

No automatic alt text available.

And here is how I solved the case:

I used all the colours in the inspiration image and started my layout on solid white cardstock.  To stick to the whole travel theme, I used some travel inspired papers and I added two flowers, as appeared on the image.  My eye was initially drawn to the black and white title on the top left of the image and as such, I wanted to create a similar type of effect to draw the eye – hence the large circular background.  I used a mesh stencil, which echoes the mesh type appearance of the windows on the buildings.  Lastly, I used some script paper.

My testimony was to document a trip:

We had the most amazing trip in the recent school holidays, where we climbed in our 4X4 vehicle and headed out on the road.  We did a few passes and drove predominantly on dirt roads – which was incredible, as we really got to see so many beautiful parts of our own country.  We also encountered some snow!  Which was amazing, as this was your very first time Isabella got to see snow up close!  It was fuh-REEZING cold with an icy wind blowing us to freezing point, right down to our bones; but at least we got to catch snowflakes on our tongue.  It was just too cold to throw snowballs at each other – but later on in our trip, we managed to squeeze in a pretty good snowball fight!  This day – our third – was definitely a highlight for Isabella!

Here are some close ups!

So Happy Together | White With 1 DT

Can you believe that it’s August?  Why does the time fly by so fast when you are older (or on holiday!) – yet at school, it seemed to draaaag…??

Today the palette over at White..with 1 is sure to brighten up your day!!  Not only that, but there is also a lovely little sketch to inspire you too!
