I misted both my title and the Steampunk Strips with a bright red mist and then coated them with Glossy Accents.
I coated my decorative discs and smaller Frankies Frame with black and then applied Glossy Accents. I applied a coat of white UTEE to my larger Frankies Frame. I also loved the appearance of the leftover board once I’d pressed my Frankies Frames out -so I decided to add them to my layout as well; I left these in their ‘raw’ state.
It has been a crazy March here in my neck of the woods – and with it being school holidays here until the second of April, there seems to be no rest for the wicked! I have, however, managed to squeeze in one layout (with another one in the making) – this one is for Challenge YOUrself. THIS time, the photograph does include me! Last month I (stupidly!) used a photograph of Isabella on her own and I felt like a right eejit for doing so!
ANYWAY! Here is my layout for this challenge!
I really enjoyed working on this one – I love how striking it turned out. I kept it fairly simple in terms of embellishments – just selecting some chipboard from my 2Crafty stash (the circles are actually the ‘housing’ for circular wreaths that I have used elsewhere!).
This month at Off The Rails, we have a vintage inspired mood board for you to join us on! We have also changed over to uploading and sharing directly to the Facebook Group.
For this layout, I was inspired by the colours of the lower two images. Being that it is a vintage inspired challenge this month, I simply HAD to scrap these two images of my grandparents, back in the day!
Today I’m sharing my take on Case File 276 at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration. I wanted to do something different with this one – though I did incorporate my usual layering style (I just can’t get away from it!) Here are the clues for you to work with:
And this is what I created.
From the image, I chose to work with yellow, red, white, with both dark and light blues.
And in case it was not immediately obvious – my primary source of inspiration was that delicious sun in the top right hand corner! Though the little girl and the kits are divine – it was that sun that kept on grabbing me! I just had to recreate it! I also used paper with polka dots and stripes and then I added in another sun, a cloud and some adorable pinwheels. It’s been an absolute age since I’ve used stitching on my layout, so I decided to go with it!
My journaling is from a March Writing Prompt – namely, what is something you are looking forward to.
Well – this picture of my precious child was taken in the most glorious rock pool out in the Cederberg; where we spent a holiday at the beginning of this year. It was a little bit of a gentle hike to get there, but every step in the heat was worth it! On our second day there, we decided that we HAD to venture back and so we have booked a longer stay there at the beginning of next year. It’s not only the scenery and the pools that I am looking forward to – it’s also the fact that there is NO internet / cellular connection and you are pretty much forced to do nothing but read or lounge in the water or nap… or whatever!
I just love that Debbi has introduced some stash busting case files to the CSI mix! When I REALLY go digging about, it’s like getting new goodies all over again!
Here is Cold Case File 277:
And here is what I did with it:
I’m not going to lie… I struggled initially.
I went with neutral colours (grey, black, brown, cream) and then added in pops of red, yellow and rust. I took inspiration from all the numbers, so I used alot of elements and ephemera that had numbers on – i.e. the rulers, clocks, Bingo Cards, etc. I chose this background paper, specifically because the little lines on it reminded me of those on a watch or a clock.
I just loved working on this glorious palette and inspiration image at CSI!
I was immediately inspired by the flowers and the leaves; and also by the polka dots. I loved the black frames on the image, so I copied this across to my layout too. I used cursive in some of my ‘titles’ as well. Here is what I created:
My journaling comes from a prompt for joy – number 3, which was ‘what kind of thoughts would your happiest self think – give 3 examples’.
Well… my first thought is always how very lucky I am to be mom to this incredible child of mine; I am in awe, practically daily, that her birthmom chose ME! And then my thoughts go to complete contentment – within myself and within my family life. Lastly, I think about how far I have come with the cards I have been dealt.
