2Crafty Chippies, CSI DT Post

Tween Moment | CSI DT

We have a lovely Cold Case File for you to play along with at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration, this month.

No photo description available.

Here’s how I solved the case.

I used yellow, red, blue, white and grey. I was inspired by the snowflakes – so added paper with a snowflake print and a chippie piece from 2Crafty that reminded me a little of a snowflake. I also added some star print paper, some circles (as taken from the various circular objects in the image) and some hearts. The chipboard arrows from 2Crafty reminded me so much of the wire of the Christmas lights. I also added a sticker title in a cursive font, just like the title of the inspiration image.

Sticking to a Winter theme, I chose this picture of my daughter, all bundled up.

You & Me Happy Together | CSI DT

What would Valentine’s Day be without black, white, red, grey and HEARTS?! That’s exactly what’s on offer this month at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration:

I certainly didn’t hold back! Here’s my creation:

I used red, black, white and 2 shades of grey. I used some pretty flowers and some leaves as well. I went a bit bonkers with all forms of hearts on my layout, and also used striped paper, as well as woodgrain print. That gorgeous chipboard frame and tower of hearts are from 2Crafty Chipboard.

The theme of my piece centres on the word ‘mine’. I ask this man of mine, way too often I think, whether he can tell me how he came to be mine. Just mine and all mine. I cannot believe how lucky I am and after so many years of thinking that I must have done something wrong in a former life, he comes along and challenges that theory!

I created this layout.

At the end of 2014, when my husband died very suddenly, I had to become Hero to both my daughter and to myself. It was a long and difficult process, but I came out on the other side – scarred, but okay – and much, much stronger. I hope that I have inspired my own daughter to be her own hero.

My beautiful gold chipboard swirls are from 2Crafty Chipboard.

Every Sunset | CSI DT

Having been away at the time these went live on CSI: Color Stories Inspiration, I totally forgot to share this post with you! The deadline has unfortunately already passed!

I have worked with most of the colours that are on thei inspiration image. I also chose some tags and frames to incorporate in my layering, as well as paper with graph, stripes and script print. I chose leaf ephemera which reminded me of the little moustaches on the image. I popped on a gorgeous title chippie, from 2Crafty.

In terms of journalling, I chose the question “Can People Change?”

I reckon a question like this could take a very long time to answer, as there are so many perspectives. I chose a photograph of my daughter and I, taken before our lives changed completely in 2014; and it is safe to say that I can see marked changes in my face, in particular. Obviously my child has changed, as she has grown. I have changed not only in appearance, but there is something there in my eyes which is not there anymore; something has hardened and something has opened. So, yes, from THAT perspective, people can certainly change.

Here are some closeups

Here is how I solved the case:

I decided to use triangles on my layout and then I did a little stitching around each one, just to make them stand out more. I used all sorts of colourful papers in my layered cluster, and then to get it to really stand out on my background, I used a rectangular piece of vellum as my final piece of layering. My title chippies from 2Crafty Chipboard are both misted with black and then given a coat of Glossy Accents.

I love every little thing on the mood board over at Scrap The Girls!

I worked with all these colours – adding a bit of gold. I was also drawn to the spots on the image, so added in some spotty paper and used a spotty stencil as my background.

I chose a pretty arrow chipboard piece from my 2Crafty Chipboard stash.

I’m pretty sure my daughter will not forgive me in a hurry for using this pic……
