Dream Explore Discover

Hi all,

I have a HUGE scrapping admin day ahead of me today – I’m just hoping that I will get done in good time so that I can head to my room to PLAY some more!

Last week, I watched a Youtube video by Marta and fell in love with the journal page she did using tea and coffee!  The more I watched, the more I realised that I needed to try it immediately; and that I did!

You can view her video here.

Not only did I use tea and coffee, as she did in her video, but I also made a batch of home made texture paste and used it on my journal page too.  I tell you what, my art journal smells pretty incredible right now!  This is what I did (and it’s been a very long time where I’ve created art that is ‘just because’ – all other work has been either for a challenge or as my role as DT member):

Arty Advenyure

My final post for today!  For a few weeks now, I’ve been looking into Art Journalling; the more video’s I watched, the more intrigued I became.  So I started looking at actual journals, not finding EXACTLY what I already knew I wanted.  Long story short, someone recommended one at an art shop in Jo’burg; my partner was there at the time on business, so I sent him to check it out.  He ended up buying it for me as a gift… what a guy!

I tentatively started on a project yesterday; and when all was dry today, I let rip!  I decided to work with the March mood board over at Picture This!

And this is what I did with this gorgeous mood board (be gentle with me … this IS my first time!!).  I decided to title this project ‘Arty Adventure’ because it’s the first in, what I am certain, will be a long line of artiness!

U Make My Heart Flutter

Next up is a mixed media oval canvas, which I did for the March challenge over at More Than Words.  It is just so incredibly PRETTY!

Butterflies are one of natures’ most miraculous and beautiful creatures; I have plenty in my garden currently and it’s so calming to watch as they literally waft from flower to flower.

For this canvas, I decided to scrap a photograph of my Isabella holding onto a butterfly – and I also found this title chippie which I thought fit in so cleverly with the butterfly theme too!

Here is the canvas I made over the past few days; along with a few close up images:

Magical Moments

Hi everyone,

And here we are with another full admin day.  Little do non-scrappers know how much admin is required… taking pics, editing pics, drafting the blog post, sharing to social media… sounds like just a wee bit of time, but believe me it can be quite time consuming.  And if you’re like me where you’d rather be arting… well, then you must know how grumpy this all makes me.

Anyway!  On to better things!  And as such, the latest mood board challenge that Scrapping Clearly have up for March (I will be doing the sketch challenge at a later stage):

When I looked at this mood board, I was immediately drawn to the blue’s; and also to the fact that it had a wet and wintry feel to it.  I decided to use lots of water and mists on my piece; and also scrap a selfie of Isabella and I, taken in the thick of our winter last year.  Here’s what I did:

Always Wear Your Invisible Crown

It has been quite an admin intensive morning in my neck of the woods – made worse by the fact that my computer is, for reasons unknown, very veeerrryyyyyy slow!

Anyway!  Last week I stumbled on yet another challenge site called Mixed Media & Art; and while browsing through all the incredible works of art, it dawned on me that I really just DON’T do enough mixed media artwork.

I decided then and there to take part in their February Challenge

I adore these colours, images and the sketch is divine; I specifically took inspiration from the flowers and the gold ‘accents’ throughout the image above!  Here is what I threw together over the last few days!

& Then There Was You

Hello there my artist friends!

Today I’m sharing three projects with you – all of them are for online challenges I’m taking part in again.

The first one is for ‘More Than Words’.

For this one, aside from using the Ampersand and the ‘together’ theme – I actually took inspiration from the colours in the image and decided to throw together a single page layout using red, black, grey and white.

A friend took a few photo’s of my life partner and I; and I just love them!  This guy… this remarkable human being… we have known each other for years (two decades at least).  We started out as friends and now we are life partners, twin flames.  He has healed me in so many ways and shaped my life in ways I didn’t imagine possible after my husband passed away suddenly.  He has made me LIVE again!

Here’s what I did (I also entered this into the Scrap Affairs competition):

Love You To The Moon and Back | Fabscraps DT

Fabscraps C88 range is called Floral Dreams and oh my – is it Dreamy.  And ethereal.  And girly.  And all kinds of wonderful!

Amongst the pieces I created is a trio of small shadow boxes I adhered together.  You can find the tutorial for it here.

And here are some images of this piece.  I have been thinking about mounting it on to a larger canvas – just so that it’s easier to display… AND because the paper is just so divine

and I want to showcase more of it..

Forever Blessed – for FABSCRAPS

My final blog post (and how pleased I am to have caught up!!).

Fabscraps really has such a beautiful selection of products and I really do just love working with them so very much. Their paper has so many beautiful elements on them – it’s a fussy cutters dream working with them.  So much so that you really don’t need too many additional embellishments to make your piece wonderful!

I was very pleased and excited when a canvas I made for them recently made it to their blog – you can read up on the tutorial here.

Here are just a few more of my own pics.  This canvas will be cherished by me always – and hopefully one day by my daughter too.  Thanks Fabscraps for giving me free rein to create something like this.

2 Fabscraps Projects

So.  If you’ve been a follower of my scrapping blogs and / or Scrap Paper Scissors FB page and group, you will know that one of the five scrapbooking Design Teams I serve on is Fabscraps.

Let me talk a little about them…

In the past, I’d not worked much with their products.  It seemed to me (with hindsight, of course), that more international products (Prima, Kaisercraft, Bo Bunny, Graphic 45, etc) appeared to be more marketed and available to purchase online “free-er”.  Which is a bit sad really, if you consider who divine the products are that Fabscraps produce!

On a whim – and suggested (forced!) by a friend – I applied at the end of 2014 to be on the Design Team for Fabscraps.  I did not expect to be picked – but I was; and cried like a baby that day the email of acceptance arrived.

And I was blown away.  Both by the products I received to work with and also by the amazing staff AND my fellow, mind-blowingly talented DT members.

I re-applied again for this year and my “contract” was ‘renewed’.  I have a tiny little glowing fantasy brewing that I stay on this team permanently …  Oh, if only it were a long term job application!!

So, I have, in my craft room, four NEW ranges of theirs.  And I’m very proud and pleased to release TWO of my projects for the first range I have in my possession – namely, C85 – Shabby Rose.  This entire collection (and all collections from Fabscraps for that matter!) comprises the standard 12×12 inch papers, as well as Carders Pack, Stencils, Chippies, Chipboard Album, die cuts to “cover” your chippies, and stickers. Fabscraps also have a gorgeous selection of metal trinkets as well as ribbon, etc.

Oh – and if THAT wasn’t enough, they do a range of fabric too for quilting… I KNOW, right????

ANYWAY!!!!  Here are the first two projects I’ve created. The first is a single page LO and the second is a wooden boxed “canvas”, measuring 12″ x 12″.  I hope you like them!
